Newcastle @ 20/1 to be Relegated looks golden...

We'll be taking some 20/1 about Newcastle being Relegated from the Championship - as incredible as it might seem, they seem to be getting worse

The future of Newcastle United continues to hang in the balance after they suffered another setback in their search for a buyer this morning.

Singapore-based consortium the Profitable Group were thought to be interested in pursuing a possible takeover and had made contact with officials at St. James' Park.

But the plug has been pulled on the deal after the group withdrew their interest in taking proceedings any further.

Sky Sports News is reporting today that the potential suitors failed to provide any evidence of their ability to fund the purchase of the Magpies.

Newcastle have courted interest from setups based all over the world, including Nigeria and Malaysia, but thus far nothing has come to fruition for the club relegated to the Championship.

Matters relating to football are going no better, as last season's caretaker manager Alan Shearer says he remains in limbo over whether or not he will take up a permanent role at his hometown team.

Chris Hughton, ordinarily an assistant boss, is set to be in charge when the new season gets underway. He recently oversaw a confidence-crushing 6-1 defeat at the hands of Leyton Orient in pre-season

2% is the call at 16 or 20/1
